Flyers Assist Program Supporting Lifeline

December 2, 2020 | Southside Flyers news

The most important assists the Flyers make during WNBL20 will be for Lifeline during the WNBL Round 4 games against the Lightning and Boomers.

Our players have teamed up with Flyers partners to create the “Flyers Assist Program”.  The players will donate money towards every assist made during these two games as part of the WNBL “Lifeline Round” to shine a spotlight on mental health and suicide prevention and to add to the support for Lifeline. Our Flyers corporate partners will match the player donations.

“We invite other companies and individuals to join with Jayco, Let’s Go Motorhomes, Mitchelton and Metaltex, in matching our donations for every assist over the next two games and be part of our Flyers Assist Program,” said captain Jenna O’Hea after the team game day shoot around in Cairns today.

The WNBL’s partnership with Lifeline Australia first commenced during the 2019/20 season and was an initiative driven by Jenna, following the tragic loss of a family member.

More details on the round, including an interview with Jenna and other activities being undertaken by the players for the game on Sunday will be announced later this week.

Following Sunday’s game the total number of assists will be confirmed along with the donation details for everyone involved with the “Flyers Assist Program”.

The WNBL Lifeline Round is create awareness of the life-changing work of Lifeline and drive support of their fundraising efforts, during what is a challenging time for society. Lifeline provides all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to a 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention service.
