Flyers out to recapture that wining feeling

The Flyers two-game road trip north commences against the Flames in Sydney on Wednesday afternoon in what is an important couple of games for the season.

After a great start to the New Year, the 5-game winning streak came to an end with a disappointing game in Perth last Friday and the team is keen to recapture that winning feeling and consolidate a top two position on the WNBL ladder.

Following the loss to Perth, coach Cheryl Chambers spoke about the defensive game and the need to restrict the opposition scoring.

“We simply can’t afford to let teams score in that fashion,” was Cheryl reaction to the Flyers giving up 31-points in the first quarter and 53 in the first half.”

Returning from Perth on Saturday, the team had a training session on Monday before travelling to Sydney on Tuesday where they had a shoot around on arrival. Game day on Wednesday and then it is off to Canberra for the second of the road double-header.

The Flames have won three of their last five games and continue to improve. While the UC Caps have had a disappointing season to date, they recently enjoyed an away victory against third placed Bendigo Spirit, highlighting the depth of the league and that there are no easy games in the WNBL.

A reminder of the importance of every game – starting with the game against the Flames on Wednesday.
