Brydens Sydney Uni Flames recruit Alice Kunek has played a pivotal role in Australia’s gold medal victory at the World 3×3 series in Tokyo.

Following dominant wins in the pool stage over Romania, Japan and the Netherlands, Australia continued their red-hot run of form with a 21-10 over Romania in the quarter-final, with Kunek contributing three points.

Kunek’s biggest contribution came in a tight-knit 21-14 triumph over Japan in the semi-final where she led all scorers with 10 points.

The grand final was an even tougher battle with the Netherlands crawling back a 6-2 deficit to two points before Kunek hit two crucial buckets in 23 seconds,  including a two-point shot from the corner which pushed the score to 13-8 with 5:59 left.

That burst of energy helped set up the victory as Kunek finished with six points and a gold medal wrapped around her neck.
