Allen caps maiden Flames campaign with two awards
Sydney Flames guard Maddy Allen capped her maiden season with the club by winning two awards at Tuesday’s Hoops Capital presentation evening.
The Brisbane product took out both the Coaches’ Award and Players’ Player of the Year at the event held at The Waterview.
“These two awards are really special because coming into this Flames group, I wanted to contribute both on and off the court in a meaningful way,” Allen said.

“I feel like these awards are a reflection of the commitment, passion and energy I’ve tried to pour into the environment this season.
“The Flames group is made up of some incredible humans so to be recognised by people I admire and respect is a great honour.
“It was a really awesome night with the whole Hoops Capital organisation so to be recognised at all on a night like that was really cool.”
While admitting the WNBL23 season has been tough, Allen has been proud of her harbour city side’s resiliency.
“I think anyone who’s been around our playing group this year can see how close we all are,” the 28-year-old said.

“Despite the tumultuous season, I’ve had an amazing experience largely due to this group of girls and all the fun we’ve had together.”
Allen and her Flames return to the hardwood on Friday night, taking on Adelaide as part of their inaugural Pink Game – with tickets to the 7pm AEDT Quaycentre clash still available here.
