Clash of the Universities

October 30, 2017 | Sydney Flames news

In a double header clash of the Universities, the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames take on the University of Canberra Capitals on Thursday night at 7pm, at Brydens Stadium. The Flames then travel down to Canberra for a rematch on Saturday at the National Convention Centre. Saturday’s game in Canberra will be televised, live on Fox Sports at 3pm.

The Flames win streak came to an end last weekend. After an exciting nine point win over the Melbourne Boomers at home last Friday night, the Flames travelled down to Dandenong to take on the Rangers on Sunday. The Flames were slightly ahead for most of the game, but were pipped by 2 points in the dying minutes. Asia Taylor was outstanding in Round 4 with 27 points and 15 rebounds against the Boomers and 24 points against the Rangers. The second placed Flames will be looking to get back into the winners circle when they come up against the seventh placed Capitals.

After a great opening weekend, the UC Capitals have hit an early slump losing their last 5 games in a row. The Caps will be looking to get their season back on track, led by veteran point guard Natalie Hurst who is averaging 10.1 points per game along with 7.3 assists.

The two teams met during pre-season where the Flames came out on top, but this will be their first battle in the 2017/18 WNBL regular season.
