Deas making her mark for Flames

Sydney Flames young gun Bonnie Deas has well and truly found her feet in the WNBL, thanks to three straight strong performances.

During the Hoops Capital club’s games against Geelong, Townsville and Adelaide, the Frankston product is averaging double-digit points, while hitting a total of six triples in that span.

“Whenever I get the opportunity to get on the court and play, I give it everything I’ve got,” said Deas in the latest episode of Flames Fix.

“That effort has been rewarded the last few games, which is really exciting.

“This league took a while to get used to, with its speed and physicality, but I feel as though I’ve now adjusted and can contribute to our team.”

Deas’ harbour city side head into Monday’s round nine clash with Southside keen to return to the winner’s circle, after back-to-back defeats.

“[During those defeats] we’ve learnt the importance of playing all four quarters because every team in this league is tough,” said the Centre of Excellence graduate, who believes her squad is refreshed after a short Christmas break.

“That includes Southside, who we take on on Monday but if we stick to our style of play, I’m confident we can reverse the earlier season result against them.”

That fixture is the first of two at Qudos Bank Arena on Monday, with the Sydney Kings locking horns with Adelaide from 7.15pm.

“It’s super important to have double-headers like we have on Monday for all basketball fans in Sydney,” the Arkansas commit said.

“We love playing in front of the big crowds at Qudos Bank Arena and it helps continue to growth our sport, especially the women’s side of it.”
