“I honestly thought we put up a really strong fight towards the end of last season and with the way it unfortunately ended, there’s a sense of unfinished business – which is one of the reasons I was keen to return to Sydney,” said Richards, who was named to the 2023-24 All-WNBL Second-Team.
“As positive as the season was from my perspective, I feel I’ll be able to hit the ground running this year and perform even stronger as I’ve been able to find a nice groove here in DC.
“One of the other main reasons I wanted to come back was to play under Guy again – he’s excellent at developing his players and finding ways to maximise their strengths in certain roles.
“He’ll help me continue to expand my game both on offence and defence while challenging me to be the best player I can be.
“I believe with the squad we have assembled and the foundations we built last year, the goal is to win the championships next season and that’s what we will all be striving for.”
Coach Molloy is thrilled to have the Baylor alum back in the harbour city for WNBL25.
“As a head coach, I seek out cohesiveness and the WNBL by nature is a very volatile league with roster results every year,” Molloy said.
“So having a second-year import in Didi is very exciting.

“Didi came to us and we weren’t sure what we were getting but as we moulded her into a type of player for the Flames, she became a really good fit and an outstanding player at both ends of the floor.
“She brought a tonne of chemistry and hustle, and for those reasons – along with being an elite defender and having a tremendous work-rate – we wanted her back.”
