Flames continue strong preparation ahead of the season

October 1, 2019 | Sydney Flames news

Continuing their preparation ahead of the 2019/20 WNBL season, the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames headed up north to take on JCU Townsville Fire for two pre-season matches, winning 77-58 and 93-87.

Alex Wilson top scored for the Flames with 20 points and 4 rebounds followed by Lauren Scherf with 17 points and Jessica Kuster with 16 points.

These strong performances follow last week’s international winning streak against Japanese team, Aisin AW Wings and China B where again, the Flames dominated.

Flames General Manager Karen Dalton said she was pleased with the performances and emphasized the importance of pre-season matches.

With new faces in the squad the pre-season fixtures have provided the Flames with the opportunity to perfect combinations although Dalton admits there is still work to do.

“(We) took a lot away from both games and it certainly exposed some things we need to work on before our first game on the 11th October.”
