Flames’ exciting WNBL25 roster nears completion
With the start of the WNBL25 fast approaching, the Sydney Flames’ roster is nearing completion.
The Hoops Capital club is excited to have eight of its 12 players locked in for the blockbuster 2024-25 season.
Headlining Guy Molloy’s squad are Australian trio Cayla George, Lauren Nicholson and Shaneice Swain, as well as WNBA duo Didi Richards and Celeste Taylor.
Rounding out the squad to date is the newly re-signed Emma Clarke and recruits Mikaela Ruef and Sherrie Calleia.

Flames CEO of Basketball Chris Pongrass is thrilled at the Flames off-season and explained what lies ahead for the roster.
“I feel we have had an extremely productive off-season this year in our recruiting efforts,” Pongrass said.
“We identified a number of areas of improvement, and we believe our recent signings and re-signings address those needs.
“Luckily we were already entering free agency in a strong position with an elite contingent of Australian talent in Cayla, Loz and Shaneice, already returning.

“A key objective this off-season was to recruit a top-tier, MVP-worthy guard, and we believe we achieved that in bringing in Celeste Taylor – I am excited for our fans to see her in action.
“Reinforcing our frontcourt was also a priority – Mikaela Ruef is someone we are confident will bring toughness, energy and effort to our group.
“She was a key target of ours that we are thrilled to have landed.
“The return of Didi Richards, Emma Clarke and Sherrie Calleia puts us in a strong position to challenge for a title.
RICHARDS RE-SIGNS WITH FLAMES FOR SECOND SEASON
“We have four remaining signings – two roster players, and two development players.
“We are focused specifically on our guard and big depth.
“We remain committed to developing NSW talent and are utilising the new Harvey Norman Future Flames program, led by assistant coach Renae Garlepp, as a pathway to identify our development players.”
