November 30, 2017 | Sydney Flames news

The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames will battle it out with the JCU Townsville Fire at Brydens Stadium on Saturday.

Mid-way through Round 9, both teams  have 8 wins and 5 losses, split by only 5% in points for and against. However, head to head the Flames have the edge so far after defeating the Fire in Townsville by 3 points, in Round 3.

The Fire are led by 5-time WNBL MVP, Suzy Batkovic and fellow Australian Opal Cayla George, who will battle it out in the post with in form Flames imports Asia Taylor and Jen Hamson in the post.

Hosting NSW Country Round, there is plenty of NSW Country representation in the Flames line-up. Australian Opal, Katie-Rae Ebzery along with Susannah Walmsley, Lara McSpadden and Cassidy McLean all played their junior basketball for Newcastle, while Carly Boag played the first part of her juniors in Tamworth. For the Fire, Suzy Batkovic is also a Newcastle Junior.

Both the Flames and the Fire dropped their mid week game’s in Round 9 and will be looking to put themselves back into the winners circle with a victory on Saturday. This will be a cracking game not to be missed!

The contest will be broadcast live on Fox Sports from Brydens Stadium at 3pm.
