Flames heat up the NBL1

It was another successful round for our Flames girls in the NBL1.

Our new recruit Tiana Mangakahia dominated in her game in NBL1 North for the Northern Wizards against our DPOY Kalani Purcell.

Mangakahia scored 39 points, 10 rebounds and 5 five assists, but Purcell’s team, the Southern District Spartans took the win with Purcell scoring 12 points,  a massive 21 rebounds, and incredible 14 assists.

Our Flames other new signing, Emma Clarke, also had a successful night in the NBL1 West with her team the Perry Lake Hawks. Clarke led her to team to victory while dropping 20 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists.

Keeping the friendly rivalry, Emma Mahady and Bec Pizzey went head-to-head with their NBL1 teams. Pizzey scored 13 points, four rebounds, and four rebounds, while Mahady had 12 points, four rebounds and four assists, but Pizzey’s Eltham Wildcats took the win over the Diamond Valley Eagles.

While these girls continued their achievements in the NBL1, our Opals stars Shyla Heal and Keely Froling were representing their country in the three-game series against Japan. Heal starred in game two on Sunday while Froling was forced out with the ‘flu and will miss game three. Game three of the series will be this Tuesday in Newcastle from 7.30. The game is televised via Kayo, ESPN or Fox Sports.
