Flames light up the NBL1
Since our WNBL season has ended, our Flames girls have been continuing their basketball careers in the NBL1 and have had great success.
Many of our Flames players are currently playing the NBL1 South and have been recording some great results.
Over the weekend Sherrie Calleia and her team, the Mount Gambier Pioneers won against the Geelong Supercats. Calleia dropped 17 points, five rebounds, and seven assists during her time on the court.
Keely Froling continued her red hot form with 25 points, 16 rebounds, and two assists for her team, the Launceston Tornadoes.
Funda Nakkasoglu returned to her old team the Sandringham Sabres and made 20 points and two rebounds.
Moving over to the NBL1 North, our girls also had outstanding games on the weekend. Flames DPOY, Kalani Purcell helped her team (Southern District Spartans) the win. Purcell had 12 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists.
Over the weekend, Flames teammates Shyla Heal and Katie Deeble, played against each other when their teams went head-to-head.
Although Shyla’s team the Northside Wizards took the win over Deeble’s Sea Hawks, both had a successful night. Heal made 13 points, 6 rebounds, and six assists, while Deeble dropped 22 points, five rebounds and three assists.
