Flames season wrap: Where to watch Flames in the offseason

The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames have finished their Community Blitz and now the players are travelling across Australia to play in the NBL1.

The NBL1 semi-professional league that takes place across Australia. Almost the Flames entire roster will be across the competition this WNBL offseason.

The Blitz was a Brydens Community initiative that enables Flames players to be role models in the community and work with local associations to encourage more women and girls to play basketball.

The last program was the Train Like a Flame Clinic, a camp hosted and ran by Flames players. With a sold out program the clinic was a success, giving young athletes access to the best the WNBL has to offer.

After two weeks of working with the next generation of NSW female basketballers, the Flames will now split off into various NBL1 Conferences and teams to improve on their game going into the next WNBL season.

 

NBL1 EAST: CHYRA EVANS

The NBL1 East (NSW) was the first NBL Conference to start, our own development player Chyra Evans made her NBL1 debut last week with 28 points and 13 rebounds!

Evans is playing for the Newcastle Falcons.

 

NBL1 NORTH: PURCELL, HEAL, MANSFIELD, DEEBLE

The NBL1 North women’s fixture starts on April 29, with the first game to feature a Flame on Saturday, April 30 at 5pm (AEST) with Shyla Heal and the Northside Wizards.

Kalani Purcell will be playing with the Southern Distract Spartans.

Shyla Heal will be playing with the Northside Wizards.

Lauren Mansfield will be playing with the Gold Coast Basketball.

Katie Deeble will be playing with the Sea Hawks.

 

NBL1 SOUTH: CALLEIA, FROLING, MAHADY, PIZZEY, ROWE

The NBL1 South women’s fixture starts on April 21, with the first game to feature a Flame on Friday, April 22 with Kiera Rowe and the Knox Raiders at 6:30 pm (AEST).

Sherrie Calleia will be playing for the Mount Gambier Pioneers.

Keely Froling will be playing with the Launceston Tornadoes.

Emma Mahady will be playing for the Diamond Valley Eagles.

Rebecca Pizzey will be playing for the Eltham Wildcats.

Kiera Rowe will be playing for the Knox Raiders.

 

NBL1 CENTRAL: MORGAN YAEGER

The NBL1 Central will start on April 9, with the first game including Morgan Yaeger on Saturday, April 6 at 6:15 pm (ACST) with Yaeger and the Southern Tigers

Morgan Yaeger will be playing for the Southern Tigers.
