Flames surge to record membership numbers
The WNBL24 season looms as the biggest to date for the Sydney Flames, after smashing their previous membership records.
Since the club’s memberships went on sale in June, the Flames have eclipsed their previous record membership sales – with there still being more than two months until the 2023-23 season tips off on Friday, November 3 in Perth.
The surge in sales is a huge vote in the confidence in the roster assembled for the Flames 2023-24 campaign, headlined by Australian Opals trio Cayla George, Tess Madgen and Lauren Nicholson.

“The response of the Sydney basketball community to Flames memberships this season is exciting and something we’re proud of,” Hoops Capital CEO Sean Nicholls said.
“Our whole club has been working hard in the off-season and it’s great to see our loyal fans rally around this revamped Flames squad.”
The big change in numbers has been driven by an increase in the number of full-season memberships sold.
Full-season premium memberships are already up 43 per cent on last season and full-season general admission memberships are up 54 per cent.
Both memberships represent outstanding value for money – something Nicholls has been very conscious of driving.
“We wanted to ensure all fans of the Flames and women’s basketball could afford to attend every Sydney home game and we think we have achieved that,” said Nicholls, whose side is still on the lookout for two imports.
“At $99 for a full-season general admission membership, this is just $9 per game and for a family of four, it’s less than $23 per game.
“And to gain premium seats at both Quaycentre and Qudos Bank Arena home games, it’s going to cost you less than $20 per game for adults and less than $50 per game for families.”
The harbour city side’s first home game is a blockbuster double-header at Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday, November 12 against last season’s semi-finalists the Melbourne Boomers.
Their first standalone game is the following week (Wednesday, November 15) against local rivals Canberra.
