Flames tip-off pre-season ahead of massive WNBL25 campaign

The Sydney Flames officially tipped off pre-season this week, ahead of what looms as a massive WNBL25 campaign on and off the court for the club.
In attendance during sessions this week were Shaneice Swain, Emma Clarke, Sherrie Calleia, Isabella Bracatisano and Bonnie Deas, as well as Harvey Norman Future Flames’ Caitlyn Martin, Carla Pitman, Piper Anderson Sari Mowbray and Maddie Dalmeida – with the rest of the squad expected to arrive in the near future.

Coach Guy Molloy, who is heading into his second season with the Hoops Capital club, was thrilled with the progress of his squad through the opening few days.
“Going back 12 months when we started this, we wanted to find certain players who fit the Flames culture – which are people who are self-driven, have a high work rate and are team-first – and that was very evident with all the players that hit the court this week,” Molloy said.
“I was really impressed with all the players, who all have bought into everything we’re driving to achieve as a team, and I feel as though they will all flourish in our system.
“While we have quite a young squad in many aspects, especially the group we had on the court this week, I feel as though there is going to be a quick maturation process with them, with a lot of them only just starting to scratch the surface of who they can be as players.
“This is only just the start, of what should be a really fun and successful year for our group.”

Molloy went on to say that the next two weeks were going to be ‘key and formative’ for this group, as they finally get the whole group together.
“Once the rest of our team arrive, including someone like Cayla George who I feel is primed for a massive year, we’ll get to see exactly how it all looks,” Molloy said.
“Another exciting element of our group’s construction is how the Future Flames have integrated themselves in – our NSW pathway system is already bearing fruit, as shown by how well they acquired themselves in Perth at HoopsFest.
“Mix in those other emerging players, who will be given bigger opportunities this season and I’m really excited by how far this group can go in WNBL25.”
