Flames to play double-header alongside Sydney Kings

The Brydens Sydney Uni Flames will play their round eight fixture against Adelaide Lightning in a double-header alongside the Sydney Kings on December 8 as part of the NBL’s Women in Sport round.

The Flames will tip off at 2.30pm on Qudos Bank Arena, followed by the Kings’ 4.45pm showdown with Cairns Taipans.

Kings chief executive Chris Pongrass said it was important the NBL pounced on opportunities like this to promote the entire brand of basketball in Australia.

“We’re very excited to be partnering with the Flames again for the upcoming season,” Pongrass said.

“The Kings / Flames double-headers were extremely popular with our members and fans last year, and it provides a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the women who help make our sport so strong in NSW.

“The Flames are a focal point for women’s sport in Sydney, so any chance we get to come together with them to showcase the growth of the NBL and WNBL collectively, we’re always going to take it.

“We’re hoping everyone will come out to Qudos Bank Arena on December 8 to show their support for what we know will be another fun day in the Kings calendar.”

Flames General Manager Karen Dalton is proud to continue the organisation’s relationship with the Kings and is eager to deliver a special event.

”We feel privileged to be part of such a great occasion that recognises our athletes for their hard work and commitment to the game,” she said.

”It is an exciting opportunity to showcase our talent in front of a large number of fans and provide a memorable spectacle alongside the Kings, who we have enjoyed a close relationship with over the years.”

The Flames’ season starts on October 11 with their first of two clashes against Adelaide at Titan Security Arena. 2019-20 membership packages available now!
