Garlepp outlined that these selections were recognition for the standout players in this year’s inaugural Harvey Norman Future Flames program – highlighting the legitimate pathway of the program for NSW-based talent.
“It’s great [to reward the Future Flames players with this selection] because it recognises the hard work of all involved in the program while motivating them to higher honours,” said Garlepp.
“It’s also exciting to see the club’s dedication to nurturing and showcasing young NSW talent on a bigger stage such as HoopsFest.
“[By doing this] it emphasises the legitimate pathway we’re creating by providing young players with real opportunities to compete at a higher level – demonstrating our commitment to their development and progression towards professional careers.”

During the pre-season tournament, the Flames will play the Perth Lynx on Thursday, September 19 (6pm AEST) at RAC Arena and the Adelaide Lightning on Friday, September 20 (7pm AEST) at Bendat Basketball Centre.
“[During the game] I’m looking for the players to gain valuable experience and exposure while building confidence and cohesion by challenging our young players against professional teams,” said Garlepp, who recently got named as the under 15 women’s Australian coach.
The Flames tip-off their 2024-25 season with a double-header at Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday, November 3 – taking on the UC Capitals from 1.45pm AEDT before the Kings battle Tasmania from 4.15pm.
