Flames v Bendigo game postponed after positive COVID test

December 28, 2021 | Sydney Flames news

Wednesday’s game between the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames and the Bendigo Spirit at Brydens Stadium has been postponed after a positive COVID case of a Flames team member.

All Flames players and staff are double vaccinated.

In accordance with NSW Health protocols, the Flames team member is in isolation and the remainder of the group are deemed casual contacts and will undergo further PCR testing before resuming training.

The delay in accessing the results of tests has meant the game cannot go ahead as scheduled. It will be rescheduled to a later date.

Flames owner and chairman Paul Smith said the health and safety of the group is of the upmost concern.

“The decision to delay the game has been made in line with WNBL guidelines,” Smith said.

“The health and safety of the players, coaches, clubs, staff and fans is our main priority.

“The club will continue to follow the advice of health authorities and further testing will be carried out on any individuals impacted or those deemed close contacts.”

Patrons who have purchased tickets to Wednesday’s game will be contacted via Ticketek and will be offered a refund or transfer to the new date once scheduled.

Members will receive an email with information on the rescheduled game once it is confirmed by the WNBL.
