Garlepp enjoys experience with Australian Gems
Sydney Flames assistant coach Renae Garlepp has just wrapped up an invaluable experience with the Australian Gems squad in Canberra.
Garlepp worked alongside head coach Kristen Veal and the top under 18 players from around the country prepared for the upcoming Asia Cup in June – followed by next year’s under 19 world championships.
The four-day intensive camp at the Australian Institute of Sport marked the first time Garlepp has worked with this national age group.
“It’s always special to be involved in any national camp and this was no different,” said Garlepp, who is once again coaching the Northas Bears during the NBL1 East season.

“I enjoyed learning and collaborating with a new staff – it’s always great to hear different perspectives,”
“Working with a new group of players was also a highlight, as it’s great to work with and watch new talent coming through.”
Garlepp has taken plenty away from the camp that she intends to use next season with the Hoops Capital side.
“Any camp or new opportunity is always a great way to learn,” she said.
“Different environments, coaches and players are a great way to keep growing and adding ideas I can then take back to help me move forward.”
