George named in WNBL’s Team of Round Six

Flame #216 Cayla George has been rewarded for her strong game against the Perth Lynx on Saturday, by being named in the WNBL’s Team of Round Six.

George, who moved passed 5000 career points during Sunday’s win at Quaycentre, tallied 28 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one steal to achieve the recognition from the WNBL.

Those blocks by George saw her rise two spots into third place on the WNBL’s all-time block list (with 445 total), overtaking overtaking Suzy Batkovic (443) and Tracey Peacock (444).

Joining the Flames skipper in the Team of the Round are Bendigo’s Sami Whitcomb (16 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists), Perth’s Miela Sowah (19 points, five boards and three dimes), Southside’s Dallas Loughridge (18.5 points and 2.5 assists/game) and Adelaide’s Issy Bourne (17.5 points and 4.5 assists/game).

George’s Hoops Capital side, who are now 3-4, now hit the road for two away fixtures against Geelong (December 14) and Townsville (December 18). 

The next home fixture for Guy Molloy’s Hoops Capital side is Sunday, December 22 against Adelaide, tipping off at 12.15pm AEDT at Quaycentre.
