The Sydney Flames officially wrapped up their first-ever Harvey Norman roadshow on Sunday, following three busy days in the Hunter region.

One player who particularly loved the roadshow was Newcastle product Lara McSpadden, who thought the experience was a huge success.

“It [the roadshow] was so positive,” McSpadden said.

“Our interaction with the community was better than expected, from the excitement of the students at the schools to the participation of the young girls at the clinic on Sunday, we were blown away by how enthusiastic everyone was to get involved.

“[Further to that] I loved being back home.

“Getting to spend a night with my family and seeing the girls experience a place so special to me for the first time was really heartwarming.”

The NSW junior knows how important initiatives like this are for the Flames of tomorrow.

“Events like our Newcastle roadshow will put the Sydney Flames and the WNBL as a whole in a greater light within the professional sporting realm,” said Flame #171.

“Letting young girls know that there are possibilities for them to exist in such a space is important for the continuance of the WNBL as well.”

McSpadden and her Flames now travel to Adelaide for a round six clash with the Lightning from 6.30pm AEDT on Wednesday – which will be broadcast live on ESPN via Kayo Sports.
