Molloy’s Flames re-energised after Christmas break
The Flames are officially back in Sydney after a short Christmas break to re-energise before the second half of the WNBL25 season.
Coach Guy Molloy admits the small break, after two straight losses, is just what his team needed ahead of their big finals push.
“The break came at a good time for us, as we all needed a little re-fresh after what had been a hectic few weeks, which included trips to Geelong and Townsville,” Molloy said.

“All the girls have come back hungry to get back to playing Flames basketball, which had us performing really well earlier this month.”
The Hoops Capital side’s next chance to get back to playing that ‘Flames basketball’ that Molloy touched on is on Monday, December 30, when they take on Southside from 4.45pm – as part of the club’s second double-header of the 2024-25 season (with the Kings taking on Adelaide afterwards).
“This looms as a crucial match for us, as Southside is already 1-0 on us in the season series,” he said.
“If we want to be playing finals basketball, wins against teams in similar spots on the ladder is imperative.
“If we get back playing to our strengths and playing to our team pillars, I’m confident we can get another win to our names.”
