Rowe’s Flames aim for quick rebound against Lightning
With their finals chances teetering going into round 10 of the WNBL23 season, the Sydney Flames know how important their match-up with Adelaide is.
As it stands, the Flames have dropped back to seventh on the ladder following Saturday’s loss to Perth, while Adelaide is up to sixth on the back of their big victory over Townsville – highlighting why Thursday’s fixture at Adelaide Arena is a must-win for Shane Heal’s side.
“We have shown that we can compete with the top teams in the league and we are working hard to keep improving every day,” said Flames forward Kiera Rowe.

“This game is extremely important to keep our finals chances alive.”
While Rowe admits Saturday’s defeat to the Lynx at the Bendat Basketball Centre was a tough one, she knows her group has learnt from it.
“We have taken a lot from Saturday’s loss against Perth and are using it to learn and improve our game,” the 24-year-old said.
“We need to focus on recognising our advantages offensively and defensively and work to capitalise on these throughout the game.”

Although Adelaide took out the first meeting between the two sides back on November 19, Victorian product Rowe knows what her team needs to do to ensure they claim their fourth victory of WNBL23 on Thursday.
“To slow down Adelaide we need to ensure we execute our team and individual scout, look after the ball on offence and secure rebounds,” she said.
The round 10 fixture, tipping off at 7.30pm AEDT, will be broadcast on 9Now.
