Serbia awaits George’s Opals in quarter-final

Flames’ Cayla George and her Australian Opals, fresh off a courageous win over hosts France, will take on Serbia in the Olympic Games quarter-finals.

After finishing second in Group B, thanks to wins over Canada and France, the Opals will lock horns with Serbia in the final eight – with the latter finishing second in Group A behind wins over Puerto Rico and China.

Other quarter-final match-ups announced on Monday AEST include Spain and Belgium, Germany and France and the United States and Nigeria – with the winner of the latter playing the victor of the Opals/Serbia match-up in the semi-final.

The Opals, also featuring Flame #221 Tess Madgen, will the hardwood at 7pm Wednesday night.
