Townsville Fire crowds to be fuelled by capacity increase at Townsville Stadium

All 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL regular season games at Townsville Stadium to move to 100% capacity effective immediately

North Queenslanders will have increased access to Townsville Fire games and all other remaining games of the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season played in Townsville, with the announcement of a further easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Queensland Health has upped the ante, allowing an increase in the venue capacity at the Townsville Stadium to full capacity, with spectators in ticketed allocated seating.

Townsville Fire General Manager Sam Pascoe stated that this is great news as we enter the half-way point of the 2020 Chemist Warehouse regular season and into the Finals Series to be contested in Townsville (venue TBA).

“With the increase in capacity, more Townsvillians and visitors to the city can now witness the very best female professional athletes in action across the coming weeks.

“In what has been a challenging year for everyone, the players are hungry to show their skills and there is nothing better than doing so in front of a full house,” Ms Pascoe said.

Despite the changes in restrictions, the game and the players will still be required to closely follow the event’s COVID-19 Safe Plan.

“We are working closely with Queensland Health, Basketball Australia and Townsville City Council to ensure that we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our players and our crowd at every game”

With the easing of restrictions, the club is looking forward to welcoming back more supporters and families to cheer on the three-time national championship winning team, and encourage Townsville to get behind all the remaining games in Townsville, “there is so much fantastic basketball happening on our doorstep,” expressed Ms Pascoe.

“The timing of this announcement could not come at a better time, as we start to see the weather warming up and school holidays already starting, come inside to the air-conditioning and help fuel our Townsville Fire team to victory, and also provides the opportunity for locals to get behind the remaining WNBL games as we hit the home stretch to finals” said Ms Pascoe.

Tickets are available via ticketek.com.au Anyone who has already purchased tickets to upcoming regular season games at Townsville Stadium will not need to act and will be reissued a new ticket within the next 24 hours.
