Back to back wins and over $8,900 raised for the Fire Relief.

The JCU Townsville Fire showed they still had plenty to play for with back 2 back wins over the weekend with a 102 – 69 win over the Canberra Capitals followed up with a 83-76 win over the Sydney Flames.
Having dropped both games this season to the Capitals, the Fire extracted some revenge for those losses as Tess Madgen (26 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists) guided them to victory.
It was a team effort on Friday night with 6 plays reaching double figures, Micaela Cocks (10 points and six rebounds), Julie Vanloo (16 points and 10 assists) Darcee Garbin (14 points and 6 rebounds) Bridget Carelton (13 points and 11 rebounds) and off the bench Kate Gaze (12 points and 2 assists)
The start of a grueling stretch begun when the team headed straight to Sydney on Saturday morning for Sunday’s clash against the Flames.
The Fire went into the half 10 points down, but in another team effort were able to dig in and come away with the win. Both Darcee Garbin (18 points and 3 rebounds) and Micaela Cocks (17 points and 4 assist) put in stellar performances to help get the team their first back to back wins of the season. The entire starting five all reached double figures.
The JCU Townsville Fire got behind the devastating Fire’s engulfing our country this weekend and are proud to announce that with the support of the community raised a HUGE $8991.00 that will go directly to the CFA and RFS.
“Whilst the wins are great, raising that kind of money for those effected is just fantastic and a real credit to the Townsville Community” Coach Seebohm said.
