JCU Townsville Fire captain Suzy Batkovic has rounded out another star-studded season with her sixth selection in the WNBL All*Star Team.
Earlier today, the four-time league MVP, who is among the leading contenders for the 2016/17 award, was named alongside the Sydney Uni Flames’ Leilani Mitchell and Asia Taylor, Perth’s Sami Whitcomb and the University of Canberra’s Mariana Tolo.

Batkovic becomes just the seventh player in WNBL history to be named in six or more WNBL All*Star teams, joining the legendary Rachael Sporn (8), Kristi Harrower (7), Shelley Sandie (7), Michelle Timms (7), Allison Cook (6) and Lauren Jackson (6).
The most dominant inside player in the WNBL, Batkovic averaged 21.3 points and 10.6 rebounds – second in both categories – while also finishing seventh in blocks.
“It’s a great honour,” Batkovic said.
“My main goal this season was to be as consistent as possible and to try and secure wins for the Fire.
“The results didn’t go our way in the semi-finals, but from a personal view point, it’s nice to see my name alongside some of the greatest ever WNBL players.”
The WNBL will announce the 2016/17 MVP on Thursday, with Whitcomb and Tolo viewed as Batkovic’s closest rivals.
Should the 36-year-old win the vote count, she will become the only player in WNBL history to be named MVP on five occasions.
The JCU Townsville Fire congratulate Suzy Batkovic on her All*Star selection.
