Brassard hoping for cracking finish
JCU Townsville Fire coach Claudia Brassard hopes the Christmas break will re-energise her troops ahead of tonight’s must-win game in Canberra.
With the Fire’s title defence now precariously place, the reigning champions can edge back towards the top-four with victories over the UC Capitals and Sydney Uni Flames ahead of the New Year.
Having freshened up over Christmas, Brassard said she was happy with the mood within the group ahead of the crucial road double.
“We spoke about what we want to focus on to close out this season so we’ll give it a crack,” Brassard said.
“We’ve got six games left against three teams (Canberra, Sydney, and Dandenong) so the scout should be pretty much nailed down and we just want to fix a few things.
“Clearly the rebounding’s been an issue for us so we’ve put some things in place and hopefully they work out better.”
The Capitals host the Fire at the National Convention Centre from 6pm tonight before the Flames host the Fire from 1pm on Sunday.
