Cocks on Triple Double Watch
Three-time JCU Townsville Fire championship winner Micaela Cocks has once again flirted with a triple double to start this week’s Winter Update.
The New Zealand Olympian was back to her MVP best at the weekend as she posted 25 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to lead the Townsville Flames to a 93-81 victory over Mackay.
Tall Ferns teammate Stella Beck added five points, two rebounds and an assist, while Darcee Garbin, who will make her Opals debut against Argentina in China on the weekend, finished with 23 points and seven rebounds.
Mikhaela Donnelly once again top-scored for Logan with 20 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists to register a double-double during the Thunder’s 63-83 loss to South West Metro.
Zitina Aokuso registered 11 points and five rebounds playing alongside her championship winning teammate.
Casey Samuels top-scored for North Gold Coast with 17 points and six rebounds.
Unfortunately, the Seahawks were on the wrong side of a 55-78 loss to Rockhampton.
The news was no better for Tess Madgen and her Dandenong Rangers in the SEABL competition.
Madgen, who will join Garbin at the Four Nations tournament in China, collected nine points, two rebounds and four assists as the Rangers fell 64-86 to the Melbourne Tigers.
Garbin and Madgen will suit-up against Argentina on Saturday, while Fire assistant Mark Wrobel and development player Alex Fowler have departed to Minsk for the up-coming Under-17 World Cup with the Sapphires.
