Fire and Flames Face off Again
The Fire will be a chasing a third win over the Flames, this season, when the teams face off tonight. Our women weren’t at their best in last weekend’s Sydney showdown but still secured a comfortable 20 point victory. Flames Coach Shane Heal hopes his side has a better handle on the ball this time.
“I was really proud of the girls to be up at quarter time but you’re never going to win too many games with 19 turnovers,”
Monique Billings barely played in the second half, after her immense individual display, before the break, all but settled the result. She expects the league’s bottom team to put up a fight at the Entertainment Centre.
“They’ll have a chip on their shoulder. But you know it’s just like any other game it doesn’t matter that it’s the same opponent. We have to remain focused, learn from what we did well and what we could improve on, so yeah we’re not overlooking anything, we just have to put our head down and go to work.”
The import also dominated during a one-sided round three contest. Townsville triumphed 75-56 but fans at the Fire Pit have had little to celebrate since, with travelling teams winning the past three games, at the venue. Billings wants to them to exit in a better mood.
“Every game is different and so that’s just the way this season has shaken out, but we still have a lot more games to play, but yeah we have something to prove at home.”
The Fire sits fifth on the ladder heading into the clash but will jump above Adelaide, into the top four with a win.
Tip off is at 7.30. Tickets are available. You can also catch the action on Kayo.
