Fire announce Development Players
Three young stars will ignite the future of the JCU Townsville Fire.
The JCU Townsville fire have announced their 3 Development Players for the upcoming WNBL Season. Nes’eya Parker-Williams, and Tia Hay will join retuning Development Player Aliza Fabbro this season.
Exciting West Australian prospect Nes’eya Parker-Williams is making the move to North Queensland following an impressive NBL1 West season, coincidentally where she was coached by Fire incoming Assistant Coach Marcus Wong. At 6’1, she can play multiple positions and can really shoot the basketball
A Victorian native Tia Hay, spent the off season in South East Queensland with the Ipswich Force, A Santa Clara University graduate, Hay’s electric blend of scoring, ball handling and playmaking – coupled with her cat-like quickness on the defensive end – saw her lead the Broncos in scoring (14.0ppg), assists (4.0apg) and steals (1.7spg) during her two years with the program.
Returning Development Player Aliza Fabbro who hails from the Burdekin, has come through the Fire’s Academy and Development program, During the off season Fabbro was part of the NBL1 North’s Championship Flames Team, where the crafty guard averaged 6.3ppg. Coming through the program, Fabbro has an excellent understanding of what it means to be a part of the JCU Townsville Fire.
Head Coach Shannon Seebohm is looking forward to the Development Players arriving for pre-season, Seebohm, understands the important role that the Development Players have within the team.
“I’m very happy with the players we have been able to recruit to be our development players for this season.
I think in Aliza, Nes’eya and Tia we have 3 great, WNBL calibre players who all have the opportunity to earn full time contracts in the future.
I know that each of them will be coming here with the mindset of getting better every day and competing at practice to make the team the best it can be.
