Fire announces the return of two of its most dedicated and hard-working players

The Townsville Fire is excited to announce the return of two of its most dedicated and hard-working players, Majella Carey and Jess McDowell-White, for the upcoming WNBL season. Their return is a testament to the team’s commitment to continuity and the development of a strong unit.

 

Majella Carey and Jess McDowell-White have both earned a reputation within the team as exceptional teammates who bring high energy and a relentless work ethic to every practice and game. Their willingness to learn and develop, both individually and as part of the team, has made them invaluable members of the Fire family.

 

Known for their positive attitudes and team-first mentality, Carey and McDowell-White have become integral to the culture of the Townsville Fire. Their return signals not just the continuation of their own journeys, but also the ongoing growth of the team as a whole.

 

Head Coach Shannon Seebohm expressed his enthusiasm about their return, stating, “Majella and Jess embody everything we value in our team—hard work, dedication, and a passion for continuous improvement. Having them back with us is not just about what they bring on the court, but about the energy and spirit they contribute to our team culture. They set a standard for what it means to be a great teammate.”

 

Both players are coming off great seasons in the NBL1 North competition.

 

Jess McDowell-White, an exceptional guard with great passing abilities that make her team better, she is an efficient 3-point shooter and hard-nosed defender.

 

” I am super excited and grateful for the opportunity to return to the Fire this upcoming season. To continue my development under Shannon and the staff was a no brainer. Can’t wait to get to work with the group and see all our amazing fans” said Jess.

 

Majella Carey, began her journey with the Fire last season as a training player and worked her way to a development spot, she has improved her skills a lot and has the ability to play both the 3 and the 4. Her high energy and work ethic are a signature each and every training.
