The JCU Townsville Fire have partnered with Lendlease ahead of the 2017/18 WNBL season to deliver their flagship schools program. Over the next 12 months, the 2014/15 and 2015/16 Women’s National Basketball League champions will deliver more than 50 school visits across North Queensland. Headed up by championship-winning captain Rachael McCully, the Lendlease Schools Program includes basketball clinics, as well as educational components focusing on healthy living, nutrition, getting active, making positive life choices and resilience. “We’re delighted to be partnering with Lendlease in this manner,” McCully said. “As a club, we’re focused on providing positive, healthy, female role models and exposing the next generation of North Queenslanders to leading a healthy lifestyle. “The sessions – on and off the court – are delivered by our players and coaches and there is genuine enjoyment in what we do.” https://youtu.be/aP199DNFdFM Having commenced the Lendlease Schools Program earlier this year, the latest clinic will be held at Kelso State School and will be delivered by championship heroes Mia Murray and Darcee Garbin. Regional Development Manager for Elliot Springs, Simon Walker said Lendlease is equally excited to be partnering with JCU Townsville Fire basketball team. “The schools program supports our commitment to the health and wellbeing of the community, encouraging all to feel welcome and engaged,” Walker said. “We believe balanced lifestyles bring out the best in people so supporting the program was a great way for us to assist in getting this message out.”
