Local young gun, and current Townsville Flames guard, Aliza Fabbro is the latest player to return to the JCU Townsville Fire as a DP for Season 2021/22.

Currently playing for the Flames in the NBL1 North conference and playing a key role off the bench on a veteran Flames team, Fabbro has had the advantage of continuing to grow her game under the tutelage of Head Coach Shannon Seebohm, including stellar performances against Cairns and Brisbane where Fabbro put up 16 and 17 point season highs respectively.

Head Coach Shannon Seebohm believes he has seen plenty of qualities in the young gun.
Aliza has put in a huge amount of work this off season, being a local product and someone who has grown a lot as a player and a person during her time at the Fire ,she is a great person to have around the team and will help elevate the culture.”

Fabbro is pumped to suit up for another year, saying, “I am excited to be a part of the Fire again. It will be exciting to see what we can achieve on the court with such a talented bunch of girls.”

The Fire have also locked in 20-year-old combo guard and Western Australian product Carla Drennan who has had a breakout season with the Logan Thunder this year. Averaging 10 points per game, including a season-high 25 against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.

Drennan Originally from Willeton in Western Australian, Carla attended California State University Northridge playing Division 1 NCAA in the Pac West.

Head Coach Shannon Seebohm is excited for Carla to head North.

“Carla’s an exciting young prospect who has been having a great season in the NBL1 for the Logan Thunder.”

“She is a great athlete and can really shoot the ball. I know she is going to make the most of this opportunity and is someone I can see being a WNBL player in the near future if she continues to put in the work.”

“Development players are really important to the team and something I take very seriously, I look forward to having both players apart of the squad this year, both development players we have signed are high quality players and people and I look forward to working with them throughout the 21 Season Seebohm said”
