Fire sign superstar SAMI WHITCOMB

TOWNSVILLE FIRE SIGNS SUPERSTAR SAMI WHITCOMB TO 2023/24 ROSTER

The Townsville Fire is delighted to announce the signing of WNBA and Australian Opal star Sami Whitcomb to our 2023/24 roster.

Whitcomb, brings a wealth of experience and skill to our team, and we are really thrilled to welcome her to the Fire family.

“We are excited to have Sami join the Fire for the upcoming season,” said Head Coach Shannon Seebohm

 “Her experience and leadership will be a huge asset to our team on and off the court.”

“Sami is a threat from anywhere on the court, she will be an instant fan favourite, not only for elite shot making ability, but also for her relentlessness and drive.

A two-time WNBA Champion in her own right, Sami knows what it takes to win, and is exactly the kind of tough, talented, and culture-first player that will be perfect for our club.”

During her WNBA career, Whitcomb has been a two-time champion with the Seattle Storm, and has received numerous accolades for her play. Whitcomb was also a Bronze Medallist with the Australian Opals in the 2022 FIBA World Cup.
