FIRE Vs GEELONG PRE GAME

It’ll be high fives all round if Townsville can claim a fifth successive win its second game of a round 13 double header at the Fire Pit.
The hosts will be chasing a series sweep over Geelong after dominating the WNBL’s season opener on the road before delivering another emphatic victory at home just under a month ago. The favourites won’t be underestimating their opponents though, especially with United still scrapping for the fourth and final playoff spot. Coach Shannon Seebohm believes his team will turn up with the right attitude and be ready for business.
“If we play smart, we execute well and we play some really good pressure defence, we’ll be in a really good spot.”
Forward Alex Fowler echoed those thoughts.
“Going into this next game we have to be ready for anything. They’ve shown all season they’ll fight to the end so we can’t go in expecting that we’re just going to win. So I think we need to just be prepared, film and scout and all that and just come ready to play.”
Guard Jaz Shelley has been prominent in the scout. She’s produced some pivotal performances of late. Seebohm knows keeping her quiet is imperative.
Yeah she has, she’s playing really well. She’s s great shooter of the ball but she also makes plays and brings other people into the game and obviously building her confidence off a couple of strong games, so trying to slow her down and limit her impact is going to be crucial.
The orange army won’t be quiet! Fowler’s certain Fire fans will still have plenty of volume in their voices despite Townsville playing a fourth home game in a row.
“I think the crowd that we have here is amazing. I think they really help us with momentum in games and in tight situations, so I think being able to play is important to all of us.”
And the Fire Pit could always do with a few more fans filling it, so why not spend a Saturday evening enjoying exciting basketball in much cooler conditions than it is outside.
Tip off tonight is at 7pm. Tickets are still available.
