Shannon Seebohm expressed enthusiasm about the new addition to the team. “Nya is an exciting prospect. She’s coming off a successful college career and has improved each season since heading to the US. She’s an excellent 3-point shooter and a standout wing defender, utilizing her length and physicality effectively. I’m thrilled to welcome her to the Fire and look forward to seeing her continue to develop in our program.”
Nya Lok was born in an Ethiopian refugee camp after her parents fled Sudan during civil war. Raised in Australia, she has a compelling story of resilience and dedication. Her journey to Australia and then to the United States for her college education is a testament to her determination and passion for the game. Now, Lok is ready to embark on the next chapter of her basketball career with the Townsville Fire.
“What seemed so distant has now arrived. I’m thrilled to kick off my professional career with the Townsville Fire and looking forward to what we will accomplish this upcoming WNBL season.” said Lok.
