Garbin shines on debut

JCU Townsville Fire star Darcee Garbin has top-scored for Australia during her international debut against Argentina in the Four Nations tournament in China.

Having been presented with her Chemist Warehouse Opals singlet prior to tip-off, Garbin was an immediate sparkplug for her side, registering seven points in the opening term alone.

The two-time WNBL champion finished with 14 points, two rebounds and a steal in just 17 minutes as Australia clinched a 78-62 victory.

Boom Fire recruit Tess Madgen also looked right at home in her Opals return as she finished with four points and a rebound while hustling on defence.

The Opals made it two-from-two last night as they shook off a slow start to clinch a 66-42 win over Serbia.

The Opals trailed 20-21 at the main break after a dogged first half before exploding to start the third term.

Garbin finished with one point, five rebounds and a steal, while Madgen finished with an assist and a steal.

The Opals continue their campaign from 9.30pm tonight when they face China.
