Goodchild stars against Tahiti

JCU Townsville Fire development player Miela Goodchild has top-scored for Australia at the opening game of the Under-17 Oceania Championships in Guam.
In an ominous display, the Sapphires crushed Tahiti 163-13, with Goodchild finishing with a game-high 28 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists.

In total, nine of the 10 Australians reached double figures as the rattled up a cricket score against the island minnows.
In just 18 minutes of court time, Goodchild, who captured gold for Australia at the most recent Under-17 World Championships, stroked 11/17 from the field.
Australia will continue its campaign tomorrow when they face the Marshall Islands from 8pm.
