Malott to like about Ally
JCU Townsville Fire import Ally Malott is ready to hit the ground running following her return to the Chemist Warehouse WNBL.
Having spent the 2016/17 season with Dandenong, Malott was a notable absentee in 2017/18 as she took her talents to Latvia and duly won a title with TTT Riga, but the 25-year-old jumped at the opportunity to return to Australia when the reigning champions came calling last month.

Primarily playing as a centre for Dandenong, Malott averaged 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists as the Rangers reached the Grand Final series against Sydney Uni only to be swept by the Flames.
While the 190cm sharp-shooter was happy to accept that role for the benefit of the team, there is no doubt she is looking forward to spending more time as a power forward next to Suzy Batkovic than filling the paint and having to grapple against her.
With just a fortnight until round one – coincidentally against the Rangers – Malott said excitement was growing within the group as they build towards October 14.
“It’s going really well,” Malott said.
“I think we’re getting up and down the court faster and faster every practice and every training, so I’m just looking forward to seeing how it goes in a real game.
“I think we have a lot of really good three-point shooters on this team.
“And obviously with Suzy and Darcee (Garbin) and Zitina (Aokuso) and me inside, hopefully we will get a lot of inside-outside looks.”

While a round one clash against her former side looms on the horizon, the Rangers have undergone a generational shift, with Amelia Toddhunter likely to be the only ex-teammate to take the floor against her on October 14.
The Fire will unveil their 2017/18 championship banner on that occasion, with tickets going on sale next Tuesday.
