Sharna Thompson joins Fire

Development and pathways remain focus of the Fire

The JCU Townsville Fire are excited to announce the signing of promising young athlete, Sharna Thompson to a development contract for the 2020-2021 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season.

20-year-old Thompson was selected in the U19 Australian Gems Squad. And has been playing in the SEABL and the NBL1 competitions over the last few seasons.

Playing for the Hobart Chargers in the  2019 NBL1 season Sharna averaged, 15.5 points. her three-point accuracy (32.3 per cent from 158 attempts) was a highlight in her game almost three assists and a steal a game to go with four rebounds, she gave everyone a glimpse of what she is capable of in the future.

She has maintained her good form and has remained game fit during the current SBL season in Tasmania, where Sharna has been leading her Hobart Phoenix Team with an average of 37.36  points per game.

“I have been following Sharna for a couple of seasons in the SEABL and NBL1 competitions. She has a great feel for the game as a scorer and is someone who has the ability to become a full time roster player in the future. I’m excited to have her join us for the upcoming season” JCU Townsville Fire Head Coach Shannon Seebohm.
