Stephanie Reid to Depart Townsville Fire for European Opportunities

The Townsville Fire is both proud and saddened to announce that guard Stephanie Reid will be leaving our team to pursue an exciting new chapter in her basketball career in Europe. After an illustrious tenure with the Fire, where her leadership, skill, and dedication have been integral to our team and clubs’ successes, Steph has signed a contract with a European club.

Since joining the Fire, Steph has made an indelible mark on the team, with her remarkable talent and work ethic both on and off the court. Her contributions have not only led to significant victories but have also inspired her teammates and fans alike. Steph not only became the heartbeat of the Townsville Fire on the court but her commitment to the fans and the region is something that the club will be forever grateful for, Steph took her responsibility as a role model to this community incredibly seriously and volunteered countless hours across numerous roles for within her 3.5 years with the club.

“Steph came to the Fire in the 2020 hub season, and watching her growth and development both on and off the court in this time has been something wonderful to watch. Her representation of this club in the community was stellar, winning community person of the wnbl in 2022/23. I am incredibly happy for Steph as she embarks on this new chapter of her basketball career,” said General Manager Sam Pascoe.

The Townsville Fire fully supports Steph in this next phase of her professional journey, confident that she will continue to excel and inspire in the European leagues.

Steph has played a huge role in the recent success of our club, She has worked hard and developed into one of the best players in the WNBL in her time at the Fire. Steph Reid expressed her gratitude towards the club and the Townsville Community, stating, “Playing for the Townsville Fire and being a part of the Townsville community has been the best thing to ever happen to me. I would just like to thank Sam, Shannon, the Townsville Fire as a whole and the Townsville community for the best 3.5 years of my life”
