TCC backs the Fire until 2020
Townsville City Council has continued their outstanding support of the JCU Townsville Fire with a new three-year funding agreement for the WNBL heavyweights.
Earlier today, Deputy Mayor Les Walker presented Suzy Batkovic with a novelty cheque for $55,000 for the up-coming season.
On top of the cash contribution, Townsville City Council continues to provide in-kind support through Townsville Stadium.

“This team are dual national champions and the council is proud to be one of their main sponsors,” Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said.
Fire general manager Richard Goodbody said the JCU Townsville Fire was extremely appreciative of the support they had received from Townsville City Council.
“As the only national sporting club that carries the Townsville name across Australia, it’s an honour to represent our city on and off the court,” Mr Goodbody said.
“We’re extremely proud of the championship banners that hang from our rafters, but we’re just as proud of the role we play in providing positive, healthy, female role models.”
The Fire commence their WNBL season next week on the road against Melbourne before hosting the UC Capitals at Townsville Stadium on October 13.
