Ticket Sales Soar for Home Semi Final

March 8, 2023 | Townsville Fire news

Townsville Fire General Manager Sam Pascoe can’t wait to experience a full Fire Pit for the first semi final against Perth. An attendance record of 2904 set at the venue less than 2 weeks ago, is expected to be smashed in the opening game of the best of three series.

“We were getting up to that 3000 mark in the regular season games, so we’re really hopeful we’ll push to that 4000 figure.”

Members secured their seats on Monday.

“The pre-sale for members only went really well. Almost every single one of them snapped up their tickets to come along and cheer on our Minor Premiers.”

Tuesday’s ticket sales to the general public exploded! 50 percent of available seating sold within 2 hours.

While the club has certainly hyped up the WNBL playoffs, local businesses, schools and the Townsville City Council, have also spread the word. Mayor Jenny Hill had a simple message for the community on her social media pages.

“I’m going orange for the Fire. First game of the WNBL finals will be played at home this Thursday night. Did you get your tickets?”

There’s definitely a new colour catching on in Townsville and Pascoe knows the incredible support will inspire the team to push harder.

“The paint the town orange campaign has gone even better than we could have imagined, Castle Hill will be lit up orange from Thursday, The Ville has been lit up orange, there’s signs everywhere, Sir Leslie Thiess drive is being re-named to Fire Lane Temporarily. And from the players perspective knowing the impact they make on the community makes it extra special. They want to get that win not just for themselves but for the region.”

Tickets to Thursday night’s blockbuster are still available but purchasing yours as soon as possible is the best thing you can do. Let’s let the Lynx know who the hosts are what side we want to come out on top. Tip off is at 6.30 but arrive early because we’re packing plenty of people in the Fire Pit!
