Townsville RSL to broadcast Fire blockbuster
The WNBL’s return to TV will be ushered in at Townsville RSL on Saturday with Fire fans encouraged to watch the clash at the club’s official venue partner.
With the JCU Townsville Fire and the Melbourne Boomers tipping-off from 2pm (QLD time) on Fox Sports, the round one blockbuster will see five-time WNBL MVP Suzy Batkovic battling against Opals teammate Liz Cambage.
Fire forward Marena Whittle will also be on hand to discuss the game with fans while she recovers from injury.
“It’s an exciting time for the WNBL to be returning to TV,” Fire General Manager Richard Goodbody said.
“We believe we have assembled a squad that will not only vie for another championship, but will also be exciting for fans to watch.
“While a lot has been made of our vaunted front court, we also have shooters right across the floor and the opening TV game of the season should be a great test for our new-look squad.”
