Watch game two at Townsville RSL
The JCU Townsville Fire is encouraging members and fans to turn out in force at Townsville RSL tomorrow.
Having defeated the Sydney Uni Flames last night, the Fire can move into their fifth WNBL Grand Final since 2012/13 tomorrow afternoon when game two is played at Bryden’s Stadium and broadcast live from 2pm on Fox Sports.
With the Fire linking up with Townsville RSL as their finals sponsor, members and fans can watch the game together at the club’s home away from home on Queensland’s biggest indoor TV screen.
“Townsville RSL provides the perfect setting to be able to watch the WNBL semi-finals in Sydney,” Fire General Manager Richard Goodbody said.
“There’s been a great atmosphere in the Sports Bar for the regular season and I would anticipate that it would be even better for the finals.
“It’s a genuine experience to be able to watch the finals on the big screen as a club.
“Hopefully our fan base turns out and carries us into another championship-deciding series.”
The Fire were simply brilliant in last night’s opening semi-final, settling their early nerves to put on a masterclass at Townsville Stadium.
Five-time WNBL MVP Suzy Batkovic led the way with 19 points and 15 rebounds, while running mates Darcee Garbin (15 points and six rebounds) and Cayla George (14 points and 10 rebounds) also dominated the paint.
The Fire and the Flames tip-off game two at Bryden’s Stadium at 2pm on Saturday.
