JCU Townsville Fire is excited to announce that Fire favourite Kate Gaze has re-signed with the team for another season.

Gaze has been an integral part of the Fire’s success, her leadership on and off the court has inspired her teammates.

“We are thrilled to have Kate back with us for another season,” said Fire General Manager, Sam Pascoe of JCU Townsville Fire. “She is a vital part of our team, and we know that her talent and leadership will continue to help us compete at the highest level.”

Gaze has expressed her excitement to continue her career with the Fire. ” I am very excited to be coming back to the Fire next season. Townsville is my all-time favourite place to play, we have the best support, the greatest fans and North Queensland is home for me now. I’m absolutely honoured to be coming back to try and win another championship with this club”

Head Coach Shannon Seebohm is excited to announce Kate as the first Fire re-signing to the Championship winning team.

“Kate was an instrumental part of the Fire Championship team last season. Her return to our group as an injury replacement really galvanised our team and the leadership, she provided both on and off court was crucial to our championship run. We are thrilled to have her back again for the 23-24 season.”

With the re-signing of Gaze, JCU Townsville Fire continues to build a competitive team that is focused on the championship title once again.

Gaze is the first announcement of the season and will join, Steph Reid, Courtney Woods and Zitina Aokuso from the 2022/23 Championship team, with more announcements to come.
