Wrobel appointed State Coach
August 18, 2017 | Townsville Fire news
Two-time WNBL championship winning assistant, Mark Wrobel, will take the reins for Queensland at next year’s Under-20 National Championships.
Embarking on his ninth campaign as a head coach at an AJC tournament, Wrobel, who boasts two gold, one silver and two bronze medals, will lead the women’s outfit into battle with further Fire representation expected.
Before then, Wrobel will resume his position as an assistant for the Australian Sapphires – and the Fire – as they look to successfully defend their World Championship.
“It's exciting to be back coaching the Under-20 Queensland women again,” Wrobel said.
“It is where my state coaching career started. It will be awesome to work alongside Bruce Palmer again as well, he remains a massive influence on my coaching pathway.
“Working with this age group gives the JCU Townsville Fire a great opportunity to expose the next generation of Queensland players to the Fire style of the game.”
An announcement on where next year’s Under-20 National Championships is expected shortly.
