Zitina Aokuso doubles down

Zitina Aokuso chalked up her sixth double-double at the weekend to start this week’s Winter Update.

The championship forward, who recently put pen to paper on a two-year extension with the Fire, has been in scintillating touch for Logan in the QBL this season and continued her white-hot form for the Thunder against USC Rip City and Ipswich.

Aokuso top-scored for the Thunder with 19 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block in their 64-71 loss to Rip City.

Mikhaela Donnelly chimed in with six points, eight rebounds, 10 assists and two steals.

Aokuso backed up the performance yesterday with 20 points and 13 rebounds in the Thunder’s 79-93 loss to Ipswich, while Donnelly finished with 21 points, four rebounds and nine assists.

North Gold Coast chalked up their third win in succession thanks to Casey Samuels.

The Fire signing top-scored with 19 points to go with four rebounds and four assists during the Seahawks’ 91-67 victory over Gladstone.

Finally, the Townsville Flames’ unbeaten start to the season is over after a 67-96 loss to Brisbane.

Three-time WNBL championship winner Micaela Cocks top-scored for the Flames with 15 points, six rebounds and two assists, while Darcee Garbin chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists.
