All other players, coaches and staff return negative COVID-19 test results

December 10, 2021 | UC Capitals news

All UC Capitals’ players, coaches and staff have returned negative tests one day after being identified as close contacts of a COVID-19 case associated with the club.

The UC Capitals will remain in isolation regardless of their result up until Wednesday when they’ve reached a full seven-day period since being in contact with the person who tested positive. They will be required to return another negative test on the sixth day before leaving isolation.

The club member who tested positive is feeling unwell but managing symptoms and staying in regular communication with the club.

Head Coach Paul Goriss said that we’re lucky to have such a close-knit group between all players, staff and coaches.

“We’ve wrapped as much support around the person who tested positive as we can and there’s twice-daily contact with them including with our team doctor and psychologist.

“This could have happened to anyone and we knew it was a possibility within the season with COVID still around, but the protocols the WNBL and ACT Government have put around us have been great.”

“We’re all maintaining a positive mindset and staying together during this time and just looking forward to getting back onto the basketball court and in front of our home crowd.”
